The Search for the Desert Porpoise is a multimedia documentary project produced by Chris & Genevieve Johnson about the critically endangered Vaquita porpoise in Mexico.

From October to November 2008, we filmed “Expedition Vaquita” – a multinational scientific expedition in Mexico to search for and monitor the remaining population of the Vaquita. We produced blogs and short videos entitled “rough cuts” examining various conservation topics affecting the animal.

In 2009, we will produce a documentary about the animal, the expedition, and the conservation measures put in place. With 150 animals remaining, what can be done? What will be done? Can the vaquita be saved or is it too late?
